ACUPUNCTURE/CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS go hand in hand and both can be used to greatly enhance the performance of the horse.  There are no absolutes in acupuncture.  There is no "right" way.  Predictability of results lies in your hands.

CHIROPRACTIC. All horses perform better if they're not out of adjustment. The treatment adjusts the horse from top to bottom; front to back. Looking at the jaw, spine, ankles, back, neck, and shoulders.

ACUPUNCTURE is a modality that enables us to take action on specific points located on or near the surface of the skin, that are measurable by scientific instrumentation demonstrating a change of electrical resistance at these sites.  These points may be acted upon by various means with the intent of insuring a continuous, uninterrupted flow of energy throughout the body.   This energy flow, which is called CHI, or LIFE FORCE, passes through the body in an electrical fashion thereby providing and maintaining the energetic balance necessary for normal bodily function.  This energy, CHI, is transmitted along channels or conduits referred to as MERIDIANS, upon which the ACUPOINTS are located.  There are some 360 numbered meridian pointsEVERY major organ has a related acupuncture point which can be used to locate and treat the true source of lameness, (feet, shins, tendons, ankles, knees, shoulders, stifles, hocks, spinal pain, whorlbone, etc.) internal syndromes (bleeders, ulcers, ovaries, hormones), virus syndromes (herpes, blisters, respiratory, skin, EPM, etc.) non-sweaters, tying up, myectomy (trapping) etc.

ACUPUNCTURE is  very old Chinese treatment for healing physical and mental syndromes.  A general understanding of ACUPUNCTURE/CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS if nothing else, may teach us "NOT TO LOOK, BUT TO SEE", "NOT TO LISTEN, BUT TO HEAR", "NOT TO TOUCH, BUT TO FEEL", and what a great advantage this would create in our daily training.

By no means do I try to pass these treatments off as a 100% cure or a cure-all, nothing is!!  Not even traditional medicine, but it is the best treatment to help the body heal itself.  And used with traditional medicine, it becomes a great advantage for you, the trainer, not to mention the health and well being of the patient.

I would like to thank DR. ED HILL D.V.M. for sharing his time and knowledge of acupuncture and chiropractic adjustment with me and for being my friend.
Thanks Doc.

Does my horse need this treatment?

If your horse is not performing to the best of his athletic ability, then more than likely he needs to be adjusted.

If you've taken the horse to a veterinarian with no results, the next logical step is an alternative medicine session.

How often should I call?

Let the horse tell you by his movements and performance. There is not a set time period between adjustments.
